My buntings are a way to remember our divine feminine connection to Nokomis Giizis, or Grandmother Moon. My mother, Susan Luxmore, has created buntings for years and these buntings are inspired by her style. My buntings and ribbon skirts honour the history of sewing and upcycling of my lineage. I honour my ancestors knowing that everything comes in cycles and making sustainable choices. My buntings carry medicine in many forms: in the cloth-hand picked, often connected to people or concepts; in the prayers and energy I put into the piece as I work on it; and in the teachings present in the panels. I am grateful to my parents who preserved and revitalized my Great-Great Memere's sewing machine from 1918.
